AzMERIT Testing

AzMERIT testing will begin the last week of March (writing) and then throughout April (reading and math).  Each grade 3 through 8 will take 3 tests and grade 4 and 8 will take an additional test for science. We will get notification out when we get back and when we are closer to grade level testing.

Students in Grades 3 through 8 will take the AzMERIT in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. Cheyenne’s testing window is March 28 – April 28, 2017. This test will be administered online. AIMS Science will be administered to students in grades 4 and 8. The testing calendar is on the back of this letter. It is very important that your children come to school these days and is prepared to do their best.

Please speak to your child about the test experience. It is important that children approach the test with seriousness and confidence. We count on your support in the following ways:

  1. Please help alleviate any anxieties your child may have about the testing and encourage them to take the test seriously and to put in their best effort.
  2. Please ensure that your child eats a wholesome, nutritious breakfast each day. There will be no snacks provided unless your classroom teacher and PTO’s homeroom parent have already made this provision.
  3. Please ensure that your child is well rested and ready to do his/her best work. Try not to schedule many activities after school.
  4. This test is untimed. For some students, they may be taking the test past lunch. Please bring a snack with you. We recommend granola or fruit bars and bottled water.

Please instruct your child to report to their classroom by 7:45 am on the day of their test. It is critical that your child comes to school on time and is here for the entire day. Cheyenne will not have any parent volunteers in the mornings during testing due to test security. Please make arrangements with your classroom teacher.
