Additional Middle School Programs

INTER-SCHOLASTIC SPORTS
6th, 7th & 8th Grade
All 6th, 7th & 8th grade students are eligible for the inter-scholastic sports teams. Grade requirements and other criteria must be met in order to participate. These sports include: baseball, volleyball, girls and boys soccer, girls and boys basketball, softball, flag football, cheerleading, cross country, and track and field.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY (NJHS)
7th & 8th Grade
Eligibility for National Junior Honor Society in 7th grade is based upon the final grade average from the previous year. In order to apply, students must have a 3.8 GPA or above and a written recommendation from a teacher. Monthly meetings are held, and students must maintain a 3.8 GPA during the year to remain in this honorary association.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT (STUGO)
6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Student Government is comprised of students who are elected by their peers to represent the entire student body. STUGO officers work diligently year-round to create a spirited and exciting atmosphere at Cheyenne Traditional School while developing their individual leadership skills. Students as young as 4th grade can run for STUGO.

ROBOTICS
6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Cheyenne Robotics is a club for 4th through 8th grade students. Teams work to design and program robots that can compete against opponents is a series of specific challenges at the district level and, possibly, beyond.

TOASTMASTERS
6th, 7th & 8th Grade
All students in 6th, 7th & 8th grade will participate in this enriching program which will be offered through the humanities classes in these grade levels. It will be a weekly class which runs for 9 weeks, culminating in a “Speak-Off”, to which parents are invited. This program enhances public speaking skills and self-esteem in students. A Toastmasters representative is in charge of the program at Cheyenne.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
6th & 7th & 8th Grade
All middle school students are required to participate in community service each semester. This may include projects both in and out of Cheyenne.
